About & Description

As a result of the Carnegie Building receiving a low seismic report, the Hokitika Museum is closed until further notice. Research enquiries are welcome.

The Hokitika Museum’s core function is to manage the community’s heritage collection and share Westland’s stories with visitors and residents through exhibitions, displays, publications and public programmes. The museum’s core values are trust-worthiness, authenticity and accuracy and we are responsible caretakers who are passionate about Westland’s history.
