Moturoa School

About & Description

Moturoa School is New Plymouth’s best-kept secret.

Nau mai, haere mai. Welcome to Moturoa School. A very warm welcome to you all. Here you will find a range of information about our wonderful school. Moturoa School is New Plymouth’s best-kept secret. It is situated 5 minutes west of the city centre, right beside the coast, under Paritutu and next to Ngamotu Beach. Moturoa School is surrounded by beautiful native bush known as Ngamotu Domain. It is adjacent to the bustling Port Of Taranaki. We have a wonderfully rich learning environment right on our back door step. The school is unique. We are lucky to have a combination of both State and Montessori Education on site. This is one of our exciting features. Families choose our school because of the supportive family atmosphere and because we have low numbers in our classes. Our other special features include our Trees for Survival and Virtues programmes. You are invited to explore our website to find out more www.moturoaprimary.co.nz

Trees for Survival is a nationwide charitable trust, initiated and supported by the Rotary movement, and has as its main aim a focus on teaching children how to grow and plant native plants or as they put it “children growing trees for our future” and “hands-on environmental education”. Moturoa School was the first Trees for Survival School in Taranaki, with our propagation unit installed and up and running by December 1996 with the guidance of Bill Clarkson. It is located within the school grounds in close vicinity to classrooms.
