New Zealand Alpine Club - Nelson/Marlborough Section

About & Description

The Nelson and Marlborough section of the New Zealand Alpine Club

The Nelson Marlborough Section of the NZ Alpine Club runs a variety of alpine, climbing & other trips throughout the year and new members are always welcome. We generally have a club meeting on the third Wednesday night of each month (check newsletter and this page for confirmation of time and venue), and we also organise special events such as the Banff Film Festival and a range of intriguing speakers throughout the year. We run instruction courses incluidng snowcraft courses and there is also some hire gear available for members. The Nelson Marlborough Section looks after the Porter Lodge based in Fox Glacier Village on the West Coast, and is the gateway to the wild west coast of the South Island, offering spectacular scenery and unforgettable experiences, from the cascading glaciers, to the mighty peaks of the alps. This lodge is your roadside base for adventures around this great region. Please feel free to come along to a club meeting or email one of the committee members for more information. And remember to prepare well, stay safe and make the right decisions on any of your adventures, near or far.
