These are a new type of house designed for New Zealand, the newest land on earth. They use the latest technology to make the house climate for you.

Wind-rain houses are so named because in creating a house specially for New Zealand one quickly realises that our country has plenty of warmth if you can keep out of the wind and rain. So I design houses with glass covered courtyards, warmed naturally by photo voltaics in the winter and shaded in the summer. Around the edges of that court and opening onto it is the cooking place and the sleeping and utility areas a client wants and tucked into the warmth a winter living/dining area. In the warmer months the court becomes an open easy living space.
