Authentic Trust Based Horsemanship, Clinics, and Escorted Ranch Tours

We provide colt starting (breaking in), problem solving, basic western riding technique, and much more, with an emphasis on techniques and principles from the Vaquero bridle horse tradition. There are also opportunities for better understanding of your horse and increasing safety and enjoyment in our specialized clinics that include improving communication, basic groundwork skills, colt starting, and leadership/management correlations, among others. Learning to interact and ride with feel, timing and balance is the main goal of lessons and Clinics. Also, we are now importing handmade, high-quality tack and gear, especially in the vaquero/buckaroo tradition. These items are almost impossible to find here in NZ and we also offer the expertise to help you find exactly what you're looking for.

General Info

Originally from Colorado, Ben and Natalie (a native Kiwi) moved back to NZ in early 2011 to provide good quality horsemanship, training, clinics, problem solving and colt starting. Ben grew up riding horses and working cattle and worked for several ranches in Colorado and Wyoming. His horsemanship experience includes apprenticeship training with Mike Ross at Eagleview Ranch and time with Richard Caldwell, Martin Black, Grant Golliher, Buck Brannaman and Ramon Castro. Ben was privileged to be featured at the inaugural Equidays as one of their Clinicians in 2011. We were excited to be a part of the inaugural Kaimanawa Stallion Challenges 2014 with Viento. Ben has also been involved as a Clinician again at Equidays every year since 2014.
